We work on this site a lot. It's our goal to make this the best OTR site on the Internet and the biggest single online collection of old time radio shows available.
If you are wondering what our club area looks like, it is exactly like what you see if you go into any of the mystery show folders listed at the bottom of this page. We use a simple directory structure format. What you see in the folder is exactly what is on the server in that particular directory. You will be given your username and password to the Members area immediately after making your donation. You will also receive a downloadable membership certificate, suitable for printing located in the club members area when you join.

As the promos went, he was "your man when you can't go to the cops. Confidentiality a specialty. It ran from November 18, until September 28, The stories were true and stated to be "the plain unvarnished facts, just as they occurred". The show, in their own words, presented some of the "most baffling cases" as hosted by the fictitious Scotland Yard Chief Superintendent The series promised stories from the greatest classical and contemporary mystery authors -- and production values to match.
And it kept its promise. It was aided from the outset by the addition of an 'annotator'-- as it was described in the s --named Geoffrey Barnes. The annotator served in the role of expositor, filling in on the plot development as necessary and providing a back-story when Riley, was a radio situation comedy broadcast during and after wartime 40s.
Because of its overwhelming radio popularity, Riley graduated as easily to a feature film, as it did to s television. Also, in , it hit the newsstands, when Dell Comics released "The Life of Riley" in comic book form. Although "The Life of Riley" had originally begun as a proposed I haven't the skills to clean up audio files or anything of that nature, just collect and reorganize.
I put this together for myself several years ago and for a couple of years offered it on disc for free of course! Includes a few New Year mysteries too! Mysteries are my 'thing', especially British. I noticed that other internet offerings of this program had variable volume between and within shows, so I volume-normalized these files with Audition for consistent volume throughout each show, with all the shows the same. They're all Hz sampling rate and 32 Kbps MP3 encoded most were that to begin with , and the MP3 tags have been set consistently.
NO noise reduction was done. Missing episodes 3 of 95; 92 are Numerous magazines of "True Crime Stories" filled the newsstands. Radio also helped fill the need with fictional heroes such as Johnny Dollar and The Saint. Few true crime dramas, other than Gangbusters or Dragnet , sustained long term success on radio.
The Secrets of Scotland Yardwas a successful crime drama series, initially Classified as a juvenile crime drama but written and acted with more adult style than most of the breed, "The Green Hornet"whose protagonist fought crime by infiltrating or even partnering initially with known criminal operations, which deceive police into believing him a wanted criminal himselfwas the creation of George W. Trendle and Fran Striker, the brains and head writer behind "The Lone Ranger" whose protagonist, according to storyline, was the great-uncle of What is here, is in chronological order according to times they aired.
This tremendously popular radio show was truly an all around favorite for any mystery lover of the time. It was the brainchild and magnum opus of golden age writing greats Robert Arthur and David Kogan.
