I have an 8 year old I plan to read it with. Is it really time for those discussions already?! This book is just what I needed to start a dialog with my 9 year old daughter. It explains the basics in a very clear and age appropriate way.

Super to read with your daughter. This book makes a child know that it's okay to feel comfortable with your body and the changes that are to come. Recently, I saw this on the shelf at the public library, where I work. We actually have a couple copies. My mom got me this guide when I started asking her THE questions that personally didn't make me uncomfortable, but grossed her out. I believe this was given to me after my first 'know yourself' class at school.

Although this book touched base on subjects that I already knew, it was helpful when there were upcoming changes to my own body, and what to do when those certain changes happen. This was okay at the time it was published Therefore while I got my period super young at 10 and had severely painful and heavy periods for years, I had no inkling I had stage IV Endometriosis and major infertility even though my mom also has stage IV endo and it took my parents 5 years to conceive me, with Pergonal injections and an HC A palatable and well written book about a not so palatable subject.

Puberty is rough to say the least and a very taboo subject that some young girls don't get enough education on at home. Talking about the good, bad, and the ugly parts of puberty in a factual unbiased way that also puts one at ease, Schaefer has found a way to talk puberty without putting you off from growing up. Most young women start the early processes of puberty in upper elementary school and this would be the perfect time t I got this before all of the biological 'changes' happened.
